わたしのあきやすみ

あきやすみにうちにかえりました。　マサチューセッツからニュー・ヨークまで(from Massachusetts to New York) バスで五時間 (ごじかん) ぐらいかかりました (かかりました = took, i.e. amount of time)。　そして、車 (くるま = car) でうちにかえりました。　土曜日に公園 (こうえん) で散歩 (さんぽ = stroll) しました。　日曜日にともだちと日本のレストランにいきました。　すきやきとおすしを食べました (たべました)。　月曜日にしゅくだいをしました。　火曜日にバスで学校(がっこう) にかえりました。　バスの中 (なか) でざっしをよんで、おんがくをききました。　あきやすみはたのしかった (たのしかった = was enjoyable) です。

Why I'm Studying Japanese

I am studying Japanese for the following reasons:
A) Latin Honors foreign language requirement
B) the knowledge I gain from this class will prove to be useful if I enter a career that involves international travel or interaction with the Japanese community
C) to study abroad and immerse myself in a foreign environment, and to go beyond classroom instruction
D) to broaden my intellectual horizons and expand my knowledge of modern Japan
